What we do
Four things, done right
We keep it simple. Heating, cooling, hot water, and the maintenance that keeps all three running. Pick where it hurts.
Why Kestler
The way we were raised to do it
Dale's father started this company on repeat customers and word of mouth. That only works if you tell people the truth. So we do.
No commissioned techs
Nobody who walks into your home earns more by selling you a bigger repair. Our people are paid to fix your system and tell you the truth, not to hit a sales number.
Flat pricing, up front
You get the price before the work, in plain numbers. No hourly meter to watch, no surprise at the bottom of the invoice. You approve the number, then we start.
Repair before replace
We would rather fix your furnace than sell you a new one. When a system genuinely needs replacing we will show you why, but we will never manufacture a reason.
Second-generation local
Kestler has been a Lansing name since 1987. We are not a national brand passing through. Our reputation lives in this town, so we treat every call like the neighbor it usually is.
How we work
From your call to a fixed problem
No phone trees, no meter running, no surprise line items. Here is exactly what happens when you call us.
You call, a real person answers
No phone tree, no ticket number. You tell us what is going on, and we tell you honestly when we can get there. A no-heat or no-cool emergency goes straight to the front of the line.
We diagnose and show you
Our tech finds the actual problem and shows it to you in plain words, not jargon. You see what is wrong before we talk about fixing it, so the decision stays yours.
A flat price, before the wrench
You get one clear price for the work, quoted up front before anything starts. No commission, no meter running, no surprise line items at the end. The number you approve is the number you pay.
We fix it right, and stand behind it
We do the work cleanly, clean up after ourselves, and back it up. If something is not right, you call us and we make it right. That is how two generations of Lansing families became repeat customers.
Service area

Our shop sits on the S. Cedar corridor on the south side. From there we cover the city and the towns around it. If you are close and not sure, just call and ask.

Straight Answers
Plain talk from the shop
No scare tactics, no filler. Just the honest answers we give neighbors when they ask us what is going on with their heat.
Good to know
Questions we hear a lot
If yours is not here, call us. A real person answers, and there is no charge to get a straight answer.
Talk to a person
(517) 555-0139What areas do you serve around Lansing?
We work throughout the greater Lansing area: Lansing and East Lansing, plus Holt, Okemos, Grand Ledge, Mason, DeWitt, and the towns in between. If you are close by and not sure whether you are in our range, just call and ask. We would rather tell you plainly than have you wonder.
How does your pricing work?
We quote a flat price before any work starts, so you know the number before you say yes. Our technicians are not paid on commission, which means nobody in your basement has a reason to invent work or push you toward equipment you do not need. If a repair does not make sense, we will tell you that too.
Do you charge extra for emergencies or after-hours calls?
Heat does not quit on a schedule, so we keep an emergency line answered around the clock. When you call outside normal hours we will be straight with you about what the visit involves before we head out, the same as we are during the day. No surprises added to the bill.
Should I repair my furnace or replace it?
That depends on the age of the furnace, the repair in front of you, and how many winters it likely has left. We will give you the honest math for your specific situation rather than a one-size answer. Plenty of the time the right call is a repair, and we will say so even though a replacement would be the bigger sale.
How fast can you get to me when the heat is out?
A no-heat call in a Michigan winter goes to the front of the line, and in most cases we can get a truck to you the same day. When we are slammed during a cold snap, we are honest about the wait rather than promising a window we cannot keep. Our office manager will tell you where you stand.
Are your technicians licensed and insured?
Yes. Kestler is a licensed mechanical contractor and our team holds the proper trade licensing and EPA 608 certification for handling refrigerant. We are fully insured, and the same small crew has worked here for years, so the person in your home is someone we know and trust.
